For example, have you seen pigeons nesting under your eaves, or swallows entering a vent? Knowing the specific locations and bird species can help speed up our process for determining the most effective treatment. 

We also ask about when you first noticed the problem, if it's seasonal, or if it's gotten worse over time. This information allows us to plan a strategic approach. If you have any photos or videos of the birds, please have them ready to show our technicians when they arrive.

Based on the information you provide, we will likely highlight a few areas where we plan to work. Ahead of our arrival, you should remove any obstacles from these work areas. This includes things like patio furniture, potted plants, or other items on ledges, balconies, or in attics and crawl spaces where we will be working. Creating clear access for us allows our technicians to install deterrents without any delays. If we are working on a roof or other high area, you should also clear the immediate space below to avoid any damage.

Furthermore, you should make arrangements for pets and children to stay away from the work area during our service. While we use humane methods, the presence of people or animals can disrupt our work and present a safety risk. You should also take down any bird feeders, birdbaths, or other things that attract birds to your property. By doing this, you remove the resources that draw birds to the area, which complements our control solutions and discourages them from returning.

Signs You Have a Bird Infestation

Seeing the occasional bird on your property isn’t necessarily a cause for alarm. However, pest birds like pigeons, starlings, and swallows have an unfortunate habit of moving in uninvited if they decide your home is appealing for nesting and roosting. Recognizing the signs of an infestation early can help you address the issue before it causes extensive damage to your property.

You may be dealing with a bird infestation if you notice any of the following signs of trouble:

• Nesting material. You might see an excessive amount of twigs, straw, or other nesting materials in unwanted places. Birds often build nests in gutters, under eaves, in vents, or on ledges, and this can block drainage systems or create a fire hazard.
• Bird droppings. An excessive amount of bird droppings is a very clear sign of a problem. Bird droppings not only look bad but also contain harmful bacteria. It can even corrode building materials, including paint, metal, and roofing.
• Feathers. Finding a large number of feathers, especially in one area, suggests that birds are nesting or roosting nearby. This indicates consistent bird activity on your property.
• Noise. Hearing persistent chirping, cooing, or flapping sounds, particularly in the early morning or at dusk, suggests that a bird population has settled in. This can come from attics, vents, or other enclosed spaces where birds make their homes.
• Property damage. Birds cause a variety of property damage, including broken roof tiles, bent antennas, and clogged gutters. Their pecking and nesting activities can also dislodge insulation or block vents, leading to other maintenance issues. 
• Odor. The presence of a large number of birds and their droppings often creates a strong, unpleasant odor. This is particularly noticeable in confined spaces like attics, garages, or sheds where birds have taken up residence.
• Clogged vents. Birds often build nests inside vents, particularly dryer and bathroom vents. This can reduce air flow, cause a fire hazard, and trap moisture. If you notice reduced air flow from your vents, birds may be to blame.
